Corpus Christi House in Boise, Idaho is a homeless day shelter that comes out of the tradition of Dorothy Day and her Catholic Worker movement and has expanded with participation and support from local churches of various denominations. We are an all volunteer 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose mission is to serve the homeless.
What we do at Corpus Christi House six days a week between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. is provide for the homeless of Boise those services that most of us take for granted. These include:
- Getting inside out of the weather to warm up or to cool down
- Using a bathroom
- Having a place to sit, read, visit, recreate, without being hassled
- Taking a shower or just brushing their teeth
- Washing clothes
- Storing personal belongings
- Receiving a message (maybe from a potential employer)
- Using a telephone for local calls
- Checking out employment opportunities
- Getting advice from others
- Developing friends and acquaintances
There are no paid employees at Corpus Christi House. We are an all volunteer community and are always looking for volunteers to join our ministry.
